Following our time in Banff National Park and Lake Louise on our Summer 2019 Road Trip, our family hit the road early for a quick drive (40 minutes or so) to Yoho National Park. This national park, also located in eastern British Columbia, is characterized by incredible falls, crystal-blue glacial lakes, and incredible rocky cliffs.
Our first order of business in Yoho National Park was to visit Emerald Lake, where we had planned to hike a trail around the lake itself. By the Grace of God, we somehow secured an RV spot right inside the parking lot, as the lot was bursting at the seams with incredible congestion. It was a good thing, as it started raining almost immediately upon us parking. We opted to make lunch in the RV and play some games in the hopes of waiting out the rain before our hike
After lunch, the rain stopped and the sun came out, so our family started out on our hike. Emerald Lake was spectacular, and the trail around the lake was an easy journey with incredible views. We stopped several times along the way, to sit on one of the many benches, to check out the beautiful wildflowers up close, and to throw rocks from our perch on some huge lakeside boulders.
After our hike, our family made a visit to the visitor center before making our way back to our home for the night, the Kicking Horse Campground, right inside the park. What a gorgeous spot to spend the night! It was truly one of the most scenic campgrounds that our family enjoyed that summer.
