Navigating Uncharted Territory Using the Roadtrippers App

Stop-By-Stop Itinerary Planning

Ready to plan a road trip, but unsure Where to Start?

If you find yourself in this predicament, consider using the travel planning app, Roadtrippers.

Justin and I came across this website / app when we were designing the initial concept for our Summer 2019 RV Road Trip. We had an idea of many of the destinations and specific National Parks that we hoped to visit during that summer trip, but were unsure as to the optimal route to guide us through those destinations. Roadtrippers can be used to map your route and navigate to your chosen destinations and, in addition, helps travelers make the most out of an ongoing trip with recommendations for detours and stops along the way that are endorsed by other travelers. We use this app to plan our initial itinerary for each trip, including drive time and mileage in between each destination.

How much does Roadtrippers cost?

You can access Roadtrippers from the web or mobile, via iOS or Android. You can either choose to use their free membership, or upgrade to their premium membership for unlimited features. If you wish to subscribe for unlimited features, the annual fee for the app is $29.99.

What are the features of Roadtrippers?

Plan Trip Itineraries : Plot up to 7 destinations with the free version of the app, or up to 150 destinations with subscription.

Discover Gems Along the Way : Roadtrippers will suggest points of interest along the way that you may not have thought about. They have recommendations on landmarks, lodging, dining, and even funky roadside attractions.

Navigation : Roadtrippers suggests the optimal route in between destinations, as well as mileage, estimated travel time, and gas usage & cost.

Collaboration : Roadtrippers itineraries can be shared with and manipulated by multiple travel planning partners, ensuring success when planning a trip with others.

How do the Gagnons use Roadtrippers?

Our family uses this app to plan our initial itinerary for each trip. Once we have an idea of the ideal destinations we intend to include on our route, we plug them into the app (including starting and ending points), to generate our exact road trip route. Then, we typically zoom in on the route to see what other landmarks and points of interest might be along our route. This gives us a good idea of other attractions that we might want to include in our travel plans, and allows us to also insert those stops into our route. We also use Roadtrippers to estimate our drive time and mileage in between each destination, which allows us to accurately plan travel for each day. Once we have our itinerary laid out in Roadtrippers, we create a spreadsheet for each trip that breaks out our plans / accommodations / activity details / budget by day.
