Our family enjoyed a wonderful long weekend out in the Russian River this past September, 2020. Never having spent much time in this region, just a short two hour drive from our home in the Bay Area, we were all excited to experience it. We opted for lodging at the Cloverdale / Healdsburg KOA, which was a decent spot for us, though a bit of a drive to the Russian River and also into Healdsburg, if you plan to visit either of those spots during your stay. While this campground was not our favorite, the kids particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and the fishing pond, and we caught 10 fish between all of us! Our favorite part of the weekend was our time at the Russian River, floating on the river, swinging from a rope swing over the river, and enjoying riverside snacks.
